We’ve all had good hair days and bad hair days. Climate, humidity, product build up, and even stress can affect how your hair behaves. Great hair begins with healthy, clean hair. Choosing the right shampoo can make all the difference in the styling result.
Is your favorite shampoo truly right for you?
Sure, all shampoos claim to clean your hair, but not all shampoos are the same. Every brand of shampoo is formulated differently, and for different purposes. Here is a look at three shampoos, each formulated differently to generate different results.
Shimmer Lights Shampoo – a purple colored shampoo ideally used to remove yellow pigments from hair processed with bleach to achieve blonde, or grey hair processed with pressed heat. It should only be used as needed on grey hair because it has been known to stain and turn grey hair a light purple.
Moisture Shampoos – a mildly formulated shampoo ideally used for kinky hair patterns or curly hair styles. It is used to help ease detangling during comb outs. These shampoos are typically formulated with oils so they will not strip out yours.
Clarifying/Neutralizing Shampoos – a strongly formulated shampoo ideally used as a post shampoo to balance the pH of the hair after a relaxer treatment or other chemical process. This shampoo is essential after color treatments and scalp detoxing. Regular use of these shampoos, without a chemical treatment or scalp detoxing, can strip the natural oil from your hair and result in hair damage.
The ingredients in shampoos can vary. The ingredients and the order in which they are listed on the label can be a clue to how the shampoo is formulated.
When choosing the right shampoo, make sure it is formulated to achieve your desired result.
